History

History

1946 Began as a subcontracting factory of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. in Hachime, Toyosato Village, Inukami-gun, Shiga Prefecture. Manufactured cotton-covered wire, binding wire and cotton insulated wire.
1950 Reorganized as Omi Wiring Co. Ltd.
1958 Mass production of polyethylene wiring.
1960 Technology tie-up with Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. for wire harnesses (cable assembly for automobiles), began mass production.
1961 Capital participation by Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.
1962 Partial move of factory to 17,000m² grounds in Takanose, Toyosato-cho. Full factory move completed in June 1967.
1967 Took over Sanwa Harness Co., Ltd. subsidiary of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.
1968 Moved headquarters to Takanose, Toyosato–cho (current Toyosato Factory).
1977 Found a site of 16,000m² in Aisho-cho, Echi-gun in Shiga Prefecture, established a new integrated factory from wire drawing to attachment of disconnected terminals. Set up Hikone Harness Co., Ltd.
1985 Established Shiga Factory (current headquarters; site 36,000m²).
1987 Established UTF (US) (currently AFI) as a joint venture of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and UTA (US).
1988 Began production in China at LTK (Hong Kong; currently FAPH).
1993 Technological tie-up with PERMINTEX (Malaysia). Opened parts logistics center at the Shiga Factory (currently headquarters).
1995 Technological tie-up with Tong Hae Electrics Ind., Ltd. (Korea; currently THN). Hikone Harness Co., Ltd. moved into our Toyosato Factory complex.
1996 Moved headquarters to current location, opened OEV (currently FAPV) in Vietnam.
1999 Opened FAPV Wiring Factory and Factory No. 2 (Vietnam).
2000 Changed company name to Furukawa Automotive Parts Inc. Acquired ISO9002:1994 certification.
2001 Established FACE (Czech Republic) as a joint venture with Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.
2002 Established FPAI (Indonesia) as a joint venture with Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and PERMINTEX INDUSTRIES (Malaysia). Acquired ISO14001:1996 certification.
2003 Acquired ISO9001:2000 certification.
2004 Acquired shares in Shikoku Cable Co., Ltd.
2005 Established FAPD (Dong Guan, China), FAPH (Hong Kong, China), FESZ (Shenzhen, China).
2007 Began wire harness production at TJHE (Tianjin, China), FAST (Thailand), and MFE (India). Took over automotive electronic components division of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd., changed name to Furukawa Automotive Systems Inc.
2008 Established FASV in Vietnam. Acquired TS16949 certification.
2009 Established Yamaguchi Factory.
2010 Established FASP (Philippines).
2011 Remitted our shares in Shikoku Cable Co., Ltd.
2012 Acquired in-car connector division of Mitsubishi Cable Industries, Ltd. Established FALP in the Philippines. Established FAKT in Thailand.
2013 Established FASM・FAAM(Mexico)、FASC・FASW(China)
2014 Established FASD(Germany)、FASB(Brazil)、FAAP(Thailand)
2019 Increased stake of MFE to 75% and changed its name to FME.
2020 70th Anniversary of the establishment of the company
Established FAVV (Vietnam).
2021 Shiga head office receives a Three-Star Shiga Biodiversity Initiatives Certificate, the Highest Level, for the First Time.
2022 Shiga head office installs solar power system.
